Hey everyone! Just back from Vegas and wanted to share my experience and my pictures of the Las Vegas Open 2017, particularly the Horus Heresy events I attended. This year at LVO for the 30k scene there was a “Horus Heresy Mega-Battle” (giant apocalypse style game), and a 6-round 2,500 point tournament played on Saturday and Sunday. The Northwest 30k crew made it down to Vegas and had a blast playing 30k, meeting old friends, and making new ones, all while enjoying the 30k hobby. Warning – pic heavy! Check out the Horus Heresy action below!

I’ve been building and painting my 30k Mechanicum army since December 2015, and I got everything done that I needed to for a 2500 pt force. Back in April or so, a local gaming group here in the PNW set up a 30k tournament, and while I was still assembling and painting, I signed up knowing I wanted to play and it was a good motivator for me to get my force done and table-ready. I have to say it came right down to the weekend before getting everything finished and sealed and packed up into my fantastic new KR Multicase Backpack 4. I took a lot of pictures of the 2000 point friendly tournament, and I wanted to share them with you. I had so much fun, can’t wait to do this again in August with a 2500 point list!

I finally finished the bulk of my 30k Mechanicum army and I am so stoked with how they finally turned out. I’ve been painting these guys since December of last year and saving them on my shelf to finish them by sealing – I dare not seal them in the winter time. I live in the Pacific Northwest United States, so much of the year it’s a little too cool and/or rainy to prime or seal. I get terrified when I need to go seal models because of the dreaded “fogging” effect. I also wanted to get some decals on them, which I’ve never done successfully to my satisfaction on other models, so I held off till the summer (now!) to do transfers and final sealing. Below is the results – check it out!

Hey everyone, been a while since I’ve posted, and really my hobby progress has largely been consumed since last Christmas with a Horus Heresy Mechanicum army I’ve been assembling and painting like mad. When I went to LVO 2016, I wanted to see all the great 30k armies and it really helped keep me motivated to get my Mechanicum army ready for next year’s LVO. Part of that force is going to be 2 Krios Venator tanks – I love these models. But not going to lie – those models are super tricky to assemble. Check out my tutorial inside to see how these pieces go together – its important to assemble in the right order, and I hope through my trial and error, others can learn how to assemble these bad boys with less struggle.

Well then. My blogging on hobby and gaming related stuff has started to follow the pattern of this little gem of my collection – a little too long in the updating! I bought this Tyranid Barbed Heirodule in a Forgeworld purchase WAAAY back in mid 2011. It’s been sitting in it’s package, untouched, in my hobby projects box for over 3 years. 3. YEARS. I finally decided to get around to working on this, after I’d put together a large amount of my Tyranids, took a 2-year hiatus to focus solely on Nurlge CSM’s. I’m as of December of last year working on ‘nids again, and I decided it was time to get this guy put together and completed – once and for all! So he’s been in the workshop for a month or so and I’m proud to say that I now am playing with the big boys with my ‘nids now by having a Gargantuan Creature that I can field with my swarm.
