Nurgle Chaos Spawn Conversions

I’ve wanted to convert up some Chaos Spawn for my 40k Nurgle CSM force for some time. I wasn’t too thrilled with the stock models, although they did have some nice bits in that kit, and didn’t look too Nurgley. You know me – when it comes to my Nurgle CSM force, it pretty much has to be a labor of love conversion. So I started on these conversions a while ago, set them aside to work on some other stuff, and finally got around to finishing them. Super happy with the results! Check inside to see the results!

My Experience: Las Vegas Open 2015

I finally pulled the trigger and made the commitment about 6 months ago to go to a wargaming tournament and see the spectacle, and I wasn’t disappointed! I recently, this last weekend, had the opportunity to go to the Las Vegas Open (LVO), hosted by Frontline Gaming. What a spectacle and a show! A well run convention / tournament with all kinds of games to be seen. The event was largely dominated by 40k, but many other games were represented, such as Warmachine/Hordes, Ininity, Drop Zone Commander, Malifaux, and more. Below is a chronicle of my (very positive) experience.

Nurgle Chaos Marine Rhinos – completed!

These Rhinos have been a long time in construction, magnetization, green-stuffing, painting, and gaming, and now they’re finally “done”. I’m glad to finally put them in the foam case, the way I always mentally check off a model when it’s done. These guys were actually a lot of fun to take from box to completed product, and I learned a lot along the way. Particularly, I spent a lot of time figuring out how to best magnetize each part so that they wouldn’t get in the way, specifically the Havoc launchers and how they would end up interacting with the…

Nurgle Raptors painting progress

I’ve been working on these Raptors for some time, and finally finished 2/3 of them (painted up). A lick of paint always makes them perform better on the battlefield I always say, so these guys are finally ready to deploy in full force for the ruinous powers. I’ve got about 4 more to paint plus a Nurgle Lord with jump pack, and those are currently on my painting bench. I had fun converting these – these were the first minis I made using Green Stuff Industry’s “Tentacle Maker” – I couldn’t be happier!

Dark Apostle conversion with Tentacle Maker

So I am super stoked. Like, crazy stoked. Why? Because I am really having fun with a new conversion I dreamed up and working on, but the icing on the cake is that the conversion process got a lot simpler and cooler with new tool I ordered from Green Stuff Industries (GSI). It’s called “tentacle maker”, and it seems tailor made for Chaos conversions. Now, I am in the process of putting my 40 Chaos cultist together (3 hours of mold line scraping the other morning, thank you very much), and of course you need a Dark Apostle to go…
