Dreams of Apocalypse 40k

March 26, 2013 Posted by cranky

It’s been a long-standing dream of mine to have enough (painted!) stuff for at least a single army to have a sizeable Apocalypse game. Recent thoughts of getting into Tau or a 3rd army have been usurped to going back to that dream and the long road to get me to the Apocalypse table will fully-fledged, painted, and finished army. What a ride! My Chaos forces seem to be in the best spot to get me there by the end of the year, and so that is going to be my focus. Now I may take a short detour to pick up a ‘Nid model assembly or painting diversion, but the bulk of my hobby effort for this year will be a re-commitment to finalizing my Chaos Marines.

Hi all! It’s that time again – time for a new Cranky Old Gamer hobby Challenge!

How did your January Hobby Challenge go? Me – not so great. I am going to declare my hobby challenge for January to be incomplete (fail!), but at least it caused me to focus my attention and get a lot farther than I had anticipated. I think I bit off too much for one month. This month, I plan to do different!

Hobby Challenge January 2013 – join the fun!

This year here at Cranky Old Gamer we’re going to try something new to spice it up and keep ourselves motivated. It’s called the “Hobby Challenge”. The genesis of this idea was a conversation at work on picking up a Games Workshop 40k Battleforce boxed set and assembling it and painting it, as a part of a event for a local GW store. Now this is exciting of course because it’s a challenge and gets us something new in our collection – but the fact is that, at least for many of us, we already have so much to assemble and paint, and adding a new boxed set may not be getting us closer to our end goal of “completed armies”. So what’s a cranky old gamer to do?
