Commission Khanjira Dragon!

January 30, 2018 Posted by cranky

I was asked by a good friend to paint a dragon miniature for his D&D campaign master before the holiday break, and I just got finished with it, right before I left for LVO 2018. Being my first commission paint job (I’ve done a few commission conversion jobs for this chap here), but this was my first real commission painted piece. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. He’s an absolute beast of a miniature (no pun intended), and I hope the client gets as much joy out of him as I did in painting h im up. Check out the details inside!

It lives! Lumpy the Nurgle Daemon Prince is painted!

May 11, 2017 Posted by cranky

Hey everyone, Cranky Old Gamer here and I excited to finally say that a project that has long been on my “to be completed” shelf is finally done. A long while back I started a little conversion project for a Nurgle Daemon Prince, who I named “Lumpy” (for hopefully apparent reasons). Well, he sat in my “needs to be painted pile” for long enough, and I’m happy to say I’m really happy with how he turned out. It didn’t take me too long to paint him, and maybe it was just that I was working on other projects. But I got inspired to come back to him. What do you think?

30k Mechanicum Magos Dominus completed & tutorial

May 26, 2016 Posted by cranky

I’ve completed my Magos / Archmagos for my 30k Mechanicum army. It’s the Games-Workshop Tech Priest Dominus model, and it seems to work great for a 30k magos / archmagos. I really love this model. Such a cool, detailed, and characterful miniature, and was super fun to assemble and paint. I wanted to show my final touches on this guy and maybe talk a little bit about the process/steps I used to paint him up. I’m so happy I picked Mechanicum for my first 30k army and while I was painting this guy up I really cemented as to why – he’s so deliciously weird and different than anything I’ve worked on in the past. Check out the pics of the finished work as well as my notes on how I painted him up!

Getting my DzC on – painting up my Shaltari

August 23, 2015 Posted by cranky

I’m so pumped up about finally getting some other projects wrapped and really focusing on my Shaltari for Dropzone Commander. I’ve been focused on Warmachine for a while and since I’m in a pretty good spot with that, it’s finally time to redirect some of my hobby hours to getting my DzC stuff rolling. In all honesty, life has been super-busy of late and my hobby time is very precious, and I have to make every hour count. Luckily, Hawk Wargames has made some super incredible models and they paint up quite easily and look stunning with minimal effort. I’ve only spent a few sessions getting these guys painted up and already I’m very happy with the results. Check out some progress pics below to see where I’m at.

Lock & Load 2015 Preparations

June 4, 2015 Posted by cranky

I originally was going to skip Lock & Load this year as I figured I’d be too busy and traveling for work, but I decided with my buddy John at the last minute to go!  I busted out my Khador stuff and started painting a few odds and ends, just to have more stuff painted and ready to go for the event.  I’ve posted some pictures below to show my progress over the last few weeks in preparation for the event, check it out!
