I’ve been working on these Raptors for some time, and finally finished 2/3 of them (painted up). A lick of paint always makes them perform better on the battlefield I always say, so these guys are finally ready to deploy in full force for the ruinous powers. I’ve got about 4 more to paint plus a Nurgle Lord with jump pack, and those are currently on my painting bench. I had fun converting these – these were the first minis I made using Green Stuff Industry’s “Tentacle Maker” – I couldn’t be happier!
Had our 3rd battle in our campaign for Aggrippa Secundus yesterday at the Seattle Battle Bunker. 1500 points a side, Space Wolves vs. Chaos (Nurgle) once again, but this time the forces of Chaos had 500 points of allies in the form of Imperial Guard (traitors!) in a 1500 point total per side game. Very interesting game with a few twists and turns, particularly when the Chaos Lord and the Leman Russ showed up on the battlefield! Some pictures posted below of the battle, more details on the campaign to be posted on the forums, coming soon.
Oh my Nurgle Raptors, how you’ve suffered by my modelling OCD, multiple colds, deprioritization due to family and work life, and not to mention wandering eye towards painting my Nurgle Terminators and Daemon Prince (pics soon I promise). But I got the bug to finish these guys lately after a game where I used a single squad of 5 of them. They did pretty well, even though I’ll play them a little differently next time. I had about 10 of them pretty close to done before my last game, which needed some finishing touches. I also had 5 more that needed complete assembly. I liked the first 10 I did, but for the last 5 I wanted to get a little more crazy with the positioning and the modeling, so over the last week or so I buckled down and went into git-r-dun mode. Below are some of them, pretty much all finished, and ready for painting.
My bits bucket was looking at me last night and given that I’ve finished painting the last 10 of my 60 (current) plague marines and I believe I have just about everything assembled I need for the 6000 point apocalypse game I have coming up in 2 weeks, I thought I’d start taking a crack at a project that I’ve had on the back burner for some time. A long while ago I posted about how I bought some bits from MaxMinu.eu and Chapterhouse Studios for creating some Nurgle-themed Raptors. Well, GW came out with a new set of Raptors not 2 weeks agao. They look great, but not really what I was looking for. So with these two pieces of data my brain made the binary decision to start the process of assembling these guys.
My Chapterhouse Studios Space Marine heads just arrived today – they’re going to be for my Nurgle-themed Raptors. Can’t wait for the other parts to get here.
Here’s the heads parts that I’m going to be using:
I think they’ll look sufficiently Nurgly / Death Guard-esque to be convincing helmets for Nurgle Raptors.
