I’ve wanted to convert up some Chaos Spawn for my 40k Nurgle CSM force for some time. I wasn’t too thrilled with the stock models, although they did have some nice bits in that kit, and didn’t look too Nurgley. You know me – when it comes to my Nurgle CSM force, it pretty much has to be a labor of love conversion. So I started on these conversions a while ago, set them aside to work on some other stuff, and finally got around to finishing them. Super happy with the results! Check inside to see the results!

I’ve been working on these Raptors for some time, and finally finished 2/3 of them (painted up). A lick of paint always makes them perform better on the battlefield I always say, so these guys are finally ready to deploy in full force for the ruinous powers. I’ve got about 4 more to paint plus a Nurgle Lord with jump pack, and those are currently on my painting bench. I had fun converting these – these were the first minis I made using Green Stuff Industry’s “Tentacle Maker” – I couldn’t be happier!

So I’ve been focused on many things lately (too many concurrent projects frankly) and this guy was part of that. Since then I’ve buckled down and recommitted to getting some painting done. But as I finished up my Nurgle Raptors (see this post), I wanted to have Nurgle Jump-pack lord to go with them. I totally lifted the idea from a post on another forum, but also taking the idea and making it my own. Since I’ve gotten him started, I’ve decided to put him aside for a little while as I get some much-needed painting done, but thought I’d post the work in progress shots just for fun. I’ve also got some pictures of my painting progress to show here, just in case you think I’ll all build and no painting!

So I am super stoked. Like, crazy stoked. Why? Because I am really having fun with a new conversion I dreamed up and working on, but the icing on the cake is that the conversion process got a lot simpler and cooler with new tool I ordered from Green Stuff Industries (GSI). It’s called “tentacle maker”, and it seems tailor made for Chaos conversions.

Now, I am in the process of putting my 40 Chaos cultist together (3 hours of mold line scraping the other morning, thank you very much), and of course you need a Dark Apostle to go with your cultists, right? Well, I do love the GW mini. I really do. But maybe I’m getting old or thrifty (cheap?) or just need to exercise creativity, but > $20 for a single miniature seems a bit steep. So, I raided the bits box and started to assemble something, all the while waiting for my Tentacle Maker, was looking forward to Nurgling this guy up with some cool new tentacles. Some work-in progress shots below…
