Tyranid Barbed Heirodule!

Well then. My blogging on hobby and gaming related stuff has started to follow the pattern of this little gem of my collection – a little too long in the updating! I bought this Tyranid Barbed Heirodule in a Forgeworld purchase WAAAY back in mid 2011. It’s been sitting in it’s package, untouched, in my hobby projects box for over 3 years. 3. YEARS. I finally decided to get around to working on this, after I’d put together a large amount of my Tyranids, took a 2-year hiatus to focus solely on Nurlge CSM’s. I’m as of December of last…

Battle Report – 40k 7th Edition first look – Tyranids

Well 7th edition of 40k has been released recently and the 40k community and the internets have all been abuzz with the update – what works, what doesn’t work, and how it’s going to impact the meta. I’m excited about the changes and as a big fan of 6th I was looking forward to seeing what 7th was all about. However, being recently in a hobby rut and needing some inspiration to get my 40k back on, my good friend Chris and I agreed to give the new 7th edition rules a whirl and see what all the hubub is…

Battle Report – First look at Tyranids 6th ed

All set up for our regular monthly game day and due to several factors outside our control, we weren’t able to assemble quorum for our last episode of the campaign. We did have enough players for 2x games of 40k, so I decided to set my gracious opponent Craig up with 1500 points of Death Guard Chaos Space Marines, and I’d try my hand at my first game with the 6th Edition Tyranids codex. It was a great game and we had a lot of fun. Check out the battle report below to see how they faired!

Tyranid Hive Tyrant painting tutorial

I took a look at my blog a few weeks ago and realized that I’ve been focusing on my Nurgle-themed Chaos Space Marines for over 2 years. 2 years! No wonder I’ve been feeling like they’ve been a bit of a grind. That, coupled with the impeding launch of the Tyranid Codex for 40k 6th Edition, and holiday vacation coming up and having some access to some free time, I felt the stirrings of the Hive Mind setting upon me and the compulsion to build and paint Tyranids! I took it upon myself to dust off the Hive Tyrant…

Zone Mortalis Game Day – Pictures

Last weekend we had a Zone Mortalis game day. The rules are captured in the ForgeWorld Horus Heresy Book 1 – “Betrayal” book. It’s a heck of a lot of fun and a good way to mix up your standard 40k game a little bit. The idea was to have small battles in the confines of a underground complex or a derelict space hulk or some other enclosed area – making it doubly dangerous for everyone! The tightness of the corridors and the reduced line of sight makes it much different experience and you need to change your tactics to…
