The name says it all – what could be better than good friends, good food, and Horus Heresy Zone Mortalis? I had some friends over to Chez Cranky for some Zone Mortalis games and some good slow-smoked BBQ (hence the “meat”…). Much incredible food was brought over by all and vast quantities of it were consumed before a great 3 on 3 battle of Zone Mortalis for the Northwest 30k‘s In the Shadows of Isstvan campaign. Much merriment, good cheer, full bellies, and lethal Zone Mortalis action was had! Pictures within – check it out!

Had a great game day this Saturday with the gaming crew and we got a game of Zone Mortalis in with 40k armies. We didn’t use the full ZM rules as we’re still getting our collective memories back with the 40k rule set. But we did do 2 40k armies provided by my friend John, using Eldar vs. Salamanders Space Marines. I played the Eldar (first time ever playing Eldar) and John fielded his trusty Marines. Craig provided the amazing custom Zone Mortalis boards and moral support (mostly for John as you’ll see in the bat rep later on. Great time was had and I definitely felt the power of the Eldar coursing through my veins as we played this game! Check out the army lists and some pictures of the battle as it unfolded as the Salamanders attempt to recover as many relics as they can before the crafty Eldar make off with their ancient and forbidden xeno-tech!

TyranidsInTheUnderhive

All set up for our regular monthly game day and due to several factors outside our control, we weren’t able to assemble quorum for our last episode of the campaign. We did have enough players for 2x games of 40k, so I decided to set my gracious opponent Craig up with 1500 points of Death Guard Chaos Space Marines, and I’d try my hand at my first game with the 6th Edition Tyranids codex. It was a great game and we had a lot of fun. Check out the battle report below to see how they faired!

Well! It took a long time to get this post together but here it is.. all the pictures we took of our Zone Mortalis Game Day on April 7th. A scenario was battled over called The Promethean Hulk in which Imperial Forces were tasked with stopping a space hulk at any cost to avoid it colliding with a strategically important planet. A good time was had by all, and a strong representation of many races and armies was observed; including Space Marines (Raven Guard), Dark Angels, Eldar, Orks, Chaos Space Marines, and even Tyranids (though they did not end up gracing the board).
