Las Vegas Open 2017 – Horus Heresy Gaming

Hey everyone! Just back from Vegas and wanted to share my experience and my pictures of the Las Vegas Open 2017, particularly the Horus Heresy events I attended. This year at LVO for the 30k scene there was a “Horus Heresy Mega-Battle” (giant apocalypse style game), and a 6-round 2,500 point tournament played on Saturday and Sunday. The Northwest 30k crew made it down to Vegas and had a blast playing 30k, meeting old friends, and making new ones, all while enjoying the 30k hobby. Warning – pic heavy! Horus Heresy Tournament at MOB Games

The Northwest 30k community hosted a 30k tournament on December 10th, 2016, in Lake Stevens, WA, and much fun was had by all! What a great tournament and loads of fun with great opponents and beautiful armies. We made the trip up to MOB Games in Lake Stevens, WA for the event. Horus Heresy Tournament

I’ve been building and painting my 30k Mechanicum army since December 2015, and I got everything done that I needed to for a 2500 pt force. Back in April or so, a local gaming group here in the PNW set up a 30k tournament, and while I was still assembling and painting, I signed up knowing I wanted to play and it was a good motivator for me to get my force done and table-ready. Transfers for 30k Mechanicum army + Tutorial

I finally finished the bulk of my 30k Mechanicum army and I am so stoked with how they finally turned out. I’ve been painting these guys since December of last year and saving them on my shelf to finish them by sealing – I dare not seal them in the winter time. I live in the Pacific Northwest United States, so much of the year it’s a little too cool and/or rainy to prime or seal. 30k Mechanicum Magos Dominus completed & tutorial

I’ve completed my Magos / Archmagos for my 30k Mechanicum army. It’s the Games-Workshop Tech Priest Dominus model, and it seems to work great for a 30k magos / archmagos. I really love this model. Such a cool, detailed, and characterful miniature, and was super fun to assemble and paint. I wanted to show my final touches on this guy and maybe talk a little bit about the process/steps I used to paint him up.
