Ah, my much neglected Rhinos. How happy you are to sit in the box of half-finished Chaos Marines model projects, languishing there for your day in the sun. Too long have you set there, being complete in your utiltarian-ness, not seeing being put rightfully in your place of honor amongst the completed (not to mention painted!) models of Cranky’s Plague Marine Warband. To you sirs, I say your day has come!
So my 6 Rhinos (well, 4x rhinos and 2x predators, but they’ve all been magnetized to do double duty, but who’s counting…) have been sitting around for some time, months actually, in a “mostly completed” state. Mostly completed defined as “done enough to where you can put it on the wargames table and everyone know it’s a Rhino (although given that my frequent opponents, until recently, were in the same state, it was hard to sometimes tell who’s Rhino was whose…). So like I said, they’ve been sitting there, and as I’m finishing up my last 10 Plague Marines (grand total now of 60, but of course I’m eyeing my bits drawer and pulling out bits to make more; need to make that Plague Marine tutorial…), I’m looking at my lonely, oft dismissed Rhinos, and given that they’ve been so good to me on the table top, decide it’s time to give them their justice.
So the other night I started to work on getting the “Nurgle fit and finish” on them. This post is all about shots in-progress. Not completely done, but as I write this I have 4x Rhinos largely Nurglified, and thought I’d show the results.
First guy is pretty tame – just some green stuff and drilled / scraped battle damage. The skulls are from a ForgeWorld Nurgle Terminator shoulder pad that I cut off at some point, they found a home here.
This guy has a little more going on – some more nastiness nurglification.
Next guy is a little more aggressive – he’s got some tank tranmuting to flesh with a big nasty gash up top there. Looks like he needs some penicillin.
Now we’re really getting putrid – same guy but different view (more to the rear). Major gash and rotting decrepit sections as before, but now with tentacly goodness!
4 of my 6 Rhinos here in their stages of completeness. Next to my custom Nurgle oblits and a piece of Forgeworld terrain that I swear I’ve had about 2 years and haven’t finished painting. Daemon princes back there too, waiting to be painted. Looking pretty good so far – inspiring to get these guys done!
